My thoughts about EVE.
During my time playing EVE I lived through the huge amounts of changes CCP has done to the game. I stayed loyal to the game in high and low times. Looking at the player stats and the way evolved help me make a point and speak up to help the game stay here for another decade.
I want this game to last another decade. Sadly with the current meta of the game I am afraid that it won’t. Thus I want to help EVE get back on track for every player and start looking more at the big picture rather than the little nerfs and buffs (a little bit of capacitor here some bonus there). Those will happen, if we wish or not.
There have been several times where one thing was better than the other. So we had the age of Battleship Warfare, the age of the POS, the age of T3 100MN cruisers and so on as you might remember..
With the introduction of free to play and even more skill injectors the EVE meta has changed massively in conjunction with other changes.
Today in real life everything is evened out and has to be fair to everybody. EVE did the same steps, while in the same time allowing ganking and scamming. This seems kinder odd.
EVE has become way too fair and thus it’s popularity is declining. I want EVE unfair again.
For example in the 0.0 space, which to my point of view the greatest thing of EVE. Player can own and shape space.
But 0.0 space is not worse to fight over, as every corner is nearly as good as the others. Thus as an alliance or power block you turtle up in area of space and there is no need to go elsewhere.
Remember the old days as the good moons where in a few areas? Remember when you wanted to leave the space you where living in and invade a bigger one as your alliance or block grew? That’s not the case anymore!
Make EVE unfair again. Randomly assign good moon regions, buff other regions with industry bonus and others again with mining bonus and the next one with ratting. Make the grass on the other side greener again.
Make people needing to go camping and conquering space. With fozzie sov and the way to hold space and enhance it with activity you can not hold space far from home. Thus the entities have to move.
With moon mining the passive income is gone, so no need for overlords holding and renting out space.
Aside from assign this values and archive is outcome make those values shifting over the long term. Thus good moon or belt space get mined out or ratted out over 12 to 24 months and other not so heavy utilized space gets better.
Apply the same values to low sec and PI.
As the game requires activity shape the space by activity.
On the matter of 0.0 ratting and the recently raised respawn time. I would advocate to change it back and align it with the steps mentioned above. Thus anomalies respawn quick in the beginning and than if they are over farmed, let’s say for example TEST or GSF space, the time rapidly starts to get longer and longer. The pirates aren’t stupid and move away to other regions and will only return if the other region is over farmed for some months again.
On the matter of mining and moon mining. Same would apply here, as moons and asteroid belts are in theory build up over time as it would be in the real world. So you can deplete those.. And while in non active regions they are building up more and more.. Same here you have to move after months or years to “better” space. Same goes for 0.0 and low sec space.
Make PI more or less the same way effected.
Over all I am not talking about a 30 day cool down.. More like a 6 or 12 months.
Industry I would not change in the same way. As in the real world, once you build up a strong industry it is strong. But once you harvest all the resource around you have to take the hit of a longer delivery time and thus cost to bring resource to you. Thus you naturally want to move the industry as close as you can to your resource and indexes will fall once you have moved or build up a new industry close to the new resources.
I am strongly opposed to ship nerfs to fix a greater broken problem. For example: Rorquals, Capitals, AFKtars (Ishtars for AFK ratting). This changes hurt the small parties much harder than the big players, who even might be in favour of those changes as those will make them even stronger as only they can deploy enough of those to still maintain superiority. Change the underlay rules – the way the space works. And thus everyone is affected and the small entities will get a boost in growing up so they can match more easily stronger opponents as they can move faster and thus gain more resources.
PLEX prices or risk vs reward. This is currently broken and the way anomalies and mining ships have been nerfed do make plex prices even harder to match with causal playing time. The audience of this game is getting older and thus has more money to buy PLEX to finance accounts but for the part of the audience, which relied on buying PLEX to keep playing it is getting way to hard to archive this.
A frigate size T1 hull can only cloak for 1h with skills level 1. With skills to 5h it would become like 3h.
This leads to a high risk for the attacker while the reward of catching him is still low in terms of value.
Than on the other hand let’s say a Titan T1 hull would have a base rate of let’s say 15h and with skills at level 5 it would be 18h. In terms of risk it’s little for the attacker due to the long cloaking time and in terms of reward for the defender is high as the value of the attacker is very high.
AFK cloaking in conjunction and only in conjunction with the changes above I would like to limit AFK cloaking without I am strongly against a change. But with I would like to see a cloak cooldown timer based on the ship signature size. As bigger the signature as longer the cooldown takes, as the cloaked person is risking more.
